Food from the Bar makes a difference

  • More than 1 million people receive food assistance from the Foodbank during the year.  40% of those served by the Foodbank’s Child Nutrition Programs are children under the age of 18.  The campaign raises additional funds for the Foodbank so parents can continue to feed their children with food from local food pantries and soup kitchens.
  • Food from the Bar features a four-week effort among LA County’s legal community, including law firms, legal organizations, institutions, public legal counsel members and public entities in which participants contribute money, donate food and/or volunteer.
  • Food from the Bar 2010 raised over $286,000, collected 14,200 pounds of food and brought in 549 volunteer shifts.
  • The Foodbank is working with the Westside Food Bank, its partner in distributing food in Santa Monica, Venice and West LA.  Volunteers can sign up to volunteer at the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank from April 18 to May 14 or at the Westside Food Bank's warehouse in Santa Monica on May 14.
