Join the Century City Bar Association for its Distinguished Speakers Luncheon featuring

Deanell Reece Tacha, Former 10th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge, Current Pepperdine Law School Dean on "Who Needs Lawyers Anyway?"

Dean of Pepperdine University School of Law, Duane and Kelly Roberts Dean and Professor of Law

Amid all the rhetoric about whether legal education is worth the high tuition and mounting student debt, it is valuable to pause and take a look at why society needs lawyers, what value they add to their clients and the greater good, and their role in an uncertain future.  Dean Tacha will reflect on the historic role of lawyers, the current state of legal education and the legal profession, and the future roles that lawyers will be called on to play.

Deanell Reece Tacha

Dean Tacha serves as Dean of the Pepperdine University School of Law and a professor of law. Since January 1986, she served as a Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals (10th Circuit) and as Chief Judge (2001 -2007). Dean Tacha earned her B.A. from the University of Kansas and her J.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She also served as a White House Fellow (1971-1972).

Dean Tacha has represented the judiciary of the United States internationally. She was part of the American College of Trial Lawyers Anglo-American Legal Exchange. The American Bar Association selected Dean Tacha to join a delegation of lawyers and judges to travel to Albania to help develop a new constitution and government. Judge Tacha also represented American judges in the Canadian-American Legal Exchange.

Please join us. We know you will find Dean Tacha a dynamic, inspiration and thought provoking speaker.
