How time flies! It’s already 2013 and it seems like just yesterday that I became President of the Century City Bar Association. We have had some wonderful events during the past few months. On January 9, 2013 and on January 16, 2013, Greenberg Traurig hosted a Double MCLE in their new offices in Century City. Attendees earned hard to get MCLE credits in legal ethics, elimination of bias, and substance abuse. Speakers were Michael Gerner, J.D., Myer Sankary, J.D., and Greg Skipper, M.D. from Promises Treatment Centers.

CCBA Member Spotlight:
Steven R. Sauer


Steven R. Sauer, has been a member of the Century City Bar Association (CCBA) Board of Governors for the past 12 years. He joined the CCBA in 1996 as the Co-Chair of the Bar’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, where he served for 14 years, presiding over bi-monthly round table discussions on ADR at the Friar’s Club in Beverly Hills, while writing a monthly column for the CCBA newsletter entitled “ADR in the News”. Before joining the CCBA, he was on the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association ADR Section, and also served on the Executive Committee of the Beverly Hills Bar Association ADR Section. He began his practice of law as the principal in an Of Counsel litigation boutique in Manhattan, serving as lead counsel in over 300 trials and hearings.

Petroglyph Solar Calendar: V Bar V Heritage Site

While on vacation in Sedona in December, I visited the nearby V Bar V Heritage site, located approximately ten miles south of the town in Coconino National Forest. I had come across a short article on the site, describing it as the largest petroglyph site in the Verde Valley as well as one of the best-preserved, so decided a short excursion to see this site was in order. Wow! That was a very fortuitous decision!

Photo Feature: Double MCLE Breakfasts and Distinguished Speakers Luncheon with Dean Tacha

On January 9th and 16th, we held our annual Double MCLE Breakfast program, hosted this year at the Century City offices of Greenberg Traurig, where participants earned CLE credit in legal ethics, elimination of bias, and recognizing the signs of substance abuse. Speakers included Michael Gerner, J.D., Myer Sankary, J.D., and Dr. Gregg Skipper from Promises Treatment Center.
