President's Message

Louis R. Dienes, TroyGould PC

This summer we are proud to welcome back Dean Erwin Chemerinsky to what is always our best attended luncheon, our annual Constitutional Law Luncheon. Following last year's success, which drew over 150 people, the esteemed constitutional scholar and founding dean of the University of California, Irvine School of Law, will deliver what promises to be an enjoyable and enlightening discussion of recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions and Harvard Law School Dean Elena Kagan's confirmation process, followed by a question and answer period.

The luncheon will be held on July 22nd from 12:00 noon until 1:30 pm at Lawry’s Prime Rib in Beverly Hills. Ticket prices are $55 for non-members and $45 for Century City Bar Association members. Because the Constitutional Law Luncheon is always a popular social outing for attorneys to get to know summer associates, we are offering a special low price of just $35 for summer associates. MCLE credit will be available to California Bar members. We hope you and your colleagues will join us for this very popular summer event.

We are also proud to report on the successful April inauguration of the Century City Bar Association’s Entertainment Symposium entitled “From Development Through Distribution: Following a Film Through Its Life-Cycle.” Attendees packed the house of the elegant and comfortable MGM Tower Theater for each of the sessions held over a two-week period in late April. The legal community’s most esteemed attorneys in the fields of film, development, financing, production, and distribution delivered enthusiastically-received presentations on developments in their fields. We thank the Symposium’s sponsors, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, and our outstanding speakers for making the event such a success.

Finally, we are proud to report on the successful social program, "True Crime Night: The Black Dahlia Avenger True Story", which took place at the Westside Tavern on May 26. Century City Bar Association members, colleagues and friends enjoyed a riveting presentation by Steve Hodel, author "The Black Dahlia Avenger" and "Most Evil", as he revealed how he solved the most notorious murder of the twentieth century only to discover his father was the murderer. Our thanks to Century City Bar Association board member Anthony Salerno for organizing this entertaining event.

We look forward to see you at our upcoming events and also on our brand new Facebook and LinkedIn pages.

Best Regards,

Louis Dienes
