The Supreme Court Holds the Federal Arbitration Act Trumps State-Law Public Policy

In AT&T Mobility LLC v. Concepcion, 131 S. Ct. 1740
(2011), the United States Supreme Court, in a 5–4 decision, held that
the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA) preempts California’s rule that
arbitration provisions containing class action waivers in adhesion
contracts are generally unconscionable, and thus unenforceable. The
likely practical result of this decision is the end of many, if not
most, consumer class actions.

CCBA Members Honored by "Food from the Bar"
The Century City Bar Association ("CCBA") is proud to have participated in the 3rd Annual “Food from the Bar” campaign organized by the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to unite the legal community in providing food and assistance to those facing hunger in Los Angeles. The campaign raised over $300,000 and donated over 1,600 volunteer hours at the Food Bank. Read More »
