by Jane Shay Wald

Poetry in Motion?

Have you ever been served or, for that matter, filed
Court papers whose poetry struck you as wild?

That included within them in whole or in part
Doggerel'd rhymes whether silly or smart.

If you have -- send them here, we would like to present
The funniest ones of the ones we are sent.*

Congratulations!

Congratulations to CCBA President Jane Shay Wald on being named as a 2011 Woman of Achievement by the Century City Chamber of Commerce and the Chambers Women's Business Council. Join us in supporting Jane at the Women of Achievement luncheon taking place on October 20 at the Beverly Hilton. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.

Jane is a partner at Irell & Manella LLP and is the Chair of the Trademark Practice Group in what is widely regarded as the top intellectual property law firm in the United States.   As an adjunct professor at UCLA Law School and USC Law School she has trained a generation of lawyers in her chosen specialty. Less formally, but more importantly, she has been a role model and mentor to other women lawyers in a profession in which, even today, there are few women partners.

Thank you!

The CCBA extends its gratitude to Dean Erwin Chemerinsky of the UC Irvine School of law for delivering another riveting presentation at our Annual Constitutional Law Luncheon on July 27 at Lawry’s Prime Rib. Over 100 lawyers came to hear the Dean’s informative summary and insightful assessment of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decisions.
