CENTURY CITY BAR ASSOCIATION PRIVACY POLICY
- Introduction. Century City Bar Association (“CCBA”) respects the privacy of the visitors to the CCBA website. This privacy policy is an agreement between CCBA and you, as the user of the CCBA website. This agreement tells you when this policy is effective, what information we may collect from you, how we might collect and use the information, who may have access to the information, how we may change this policy, and the steps we may take to ensure that your personal information is protected.
- Agreement to Terms of Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. All activities in which you may engage on this website are voluntary. You are not required to provide any personal information to us unless you choose to access features on this site which require certain information, such as subscribing to our newsletter or signing up for specific CCBA events. You should immediately discontinue using this site if you do not agree with the terms of our privacy policy. The terms of use of this site are expressly incorporated by reference and made a part of this policy. By using the CCBA website, you agree to the terms of this privacy policy as well as to our terms of use.
- Effective Date and Changes to Privacy Policy. This privacy policy is effective as of December 20, 2011, and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes of its provisions in the future. CCBA reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any time. Any changes, modifications, additions, or deletions will be effectively immediately on their posting to this site, and your continued use of the site constitutes consent to such changes, modifications, additions, or deletions. We will revise the “last updated” date found at the beginning of this privacy policy when we post changes to it.
- Personal and General Information We May Collect. We may ask you for certain types of information referred to on this site as “personal information,” which may include, but is not limited to, your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, or credit card number. You may be required to provide personal information to use certain parts of our website, such as sending us messages via our contact page, registering and purchasing tickets for events and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses, and signing up for CCBA’s newsletter and e-mail notification. If you do not provide the requested personal information, you may not be able to access or use the features of the site where such information is requested.
There may be other instances in which we collect information from you that is more general in nature. Such information may include your Internet Protocol (IP) address, which is required in order for you to communicate with others via the Internet, and click stream data, which includes server address and domain name. We may use click stream data, including but not limited to for traffic analysis of our website and to improve the content of our site.
We may also use the personal information you provide and any general information we receive from you to notify you about updates to the website and send you information about products, offers, and news we think may interest you on behalf of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA), the Beverly Hills Bar Association, or other external business partners. You will need to check the opt-in box to receive CCBA’s e-mail notices. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information or general information to third parties.
- Protection of Your Personal Information and General Information. In order to protect both the personal information and the general information that we receive from you through our website, we have implemented various security measures. Any personal information you provide is stored on computers with limited access. We also use encryption methods to protect any highly confidential information, such as credit card numbers, through the use of the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol, an Internet security protocol used to transmit sensitive information.
While CCBA strives to protect your personal information and privacy, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose online. By using this site, you expressly acknowledge and agree that we do not guarantee the security of any data provided to or received by us through this site and that any personal information, general information, or other data or information received from you through the site is provided to us at your own risk, which you expressly assume.
- Release of Information. CCBA may access and/or release personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on the CCBA or the site, such as upon receipt of a court order or subpoena; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of the CCBA; (c) to cooperate with a law enforcement investigation, which may include responding to requests and court orders from jurisdictions outside the United States; or (d) act under exigent circumstances to prevent imminent harm to users of the CCBA or members of the public. We reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we in good faith believe to be unlawful, as determined in our sole discretion. Release of your personal data for security purposes, as described in this agreement to any person or entity under any circumstances shall be based on a determination made solely by us, exercising our own discretion, permission for which is expressly granted by you to us in accordance with this policy. Communications with the CCBA through its website are not protected by attorney-client privilege.
- Deleting or Modifying Personal Information. CCBA will not provide e-mail updates or notifications unless you have expressly requested to receive CCBA’s e-mail notices. In the event that you no longer wish to receive CCBA’s notifications, you may opt-out by contacting the CCBA. Additionally, you can choose to have all your personal information deleted from our database, by contacting us at ccba@centurycitybar.com.
